A Village of Hampshire police sergeant was murdered while on duty. Within 24 hours his best friend was arrested by Kane County sheriff’s deputies. After his acquittal in the criminal case, the plaintiff sued the deputies for wrongful arrest and prosecution. Federal court held that the deputies had probable cause for the arrest and prosecution.
